Terms of Service

The agreement

By downloading or playing Categorush you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you got the app through the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two conflict about your license to the app itself, Apple's terms win.

Categorush is made for families and is suitable for children. If you are a child, your parent or guardian should read these terms; features that involve playing with strangers require Game Center, which parents can switch off in Screen Time.

Your license to the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and play Categorush on Apple devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment. You may not copy the app, sell it, rent it out, reverse-engineer it except where the law says we cannot stop you, or use it to build a competing service.

The words you submit

In multiplayer, the answers you type and the nickname you choose are shown to the other players in your room — in Quick Match, that can include strangers. You keep whatever rights you have in what you write. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to transmit, display and moderate that content, solely to run the game: showing your answers on the reveal screen is the entire use.

You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that discloses someone's personal information. A word game gives you about forty characters at a time; use them kindly.

Fair play and moderation

• An automatic language filter runs on nicknames and submitted words. It changes what is displayed, never scores.
• Any player can report another player for offensive language, cheating or harassment. Reports are anonymous to other players.
• Repeated reports from different players lead to a temporary ban from Quick Match (currently: three distinct reporters within 30 days → 7 days). Bans never block playing with friends by room code, offline play, or Pass & Play.
• We may lengthen a ban, or in serious or repeated cases restrict online play entirely, where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other players. You can dispute any moderation decision via the support page.
• Do not cheat: no automating play, exploiting bugs for points, or interfering with the service. Found a bug? We would genuinely love to hear about it instead.

The service

Online multiplayer depends on our game server, which we run as a small, single-region service. We aim to keep it available but do not promise uninterrupted service; rooms are held in memory, so a server restart ends the games that are in progress at that moment. Offline modes — Pass & Play, solo against bots, the daily challenge — work without any server at all.

We may update the app and these terms. For a material change to the terms we will update the date above and note it in the App Store release notes; continuing to play after a change means you accept it. If you do not, delete the app — nothing about doing so costs you anything, and your local progress remains yours to erase in Settings.

Disclaimers and liability

Categorush is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from playing a word game — lost streaks and disputed answers included. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing reduces the consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, and disputes belong to the Danish courts — except that if you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you keep the protection of your local law and the right to bring proceedings where you live.
